Mary McGinnis represents Michigan as the Business Operations Support Services Director, under the CTO. As the Business Operations Support Services (BOSS) director, Mary leads the team responsible for business support of all CTO product and service areas, including IT asset management, budget and portfolio management, communications, control assessment and compliance, Michigan Master Computing Program (MMCP), and the MiPRINT program.
Mary brings 14 years of experience as a State of Michigan civil servant, with 10 of those years working in IT and in a leadership capacity. Mary former served as the CTO Chief of Staff, as the right hand and trusted advisor to the CTO, supporting the strategic vision of the OCTO by building strong relationships across the organization to influence outcomes and maintain momentum.
Before joining the CTO team, Mary was the Chief Information Security Officer for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. She provided oversight in all areas of IT compliance under Department of Defense federal rules and regulations, ensuring adherence to NIST guidelines and complex state and local governing standards. Mary also contributed to the development and implementation of the DMVA Strategic Plan and helped drive executive decisions and organizational change throughout the department.
Mary earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Communications from Oakland University. She also earned a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification in Project Management from Davenport University and Business Process Management from Michigan State University Eli Broad Graduate School of Management.
Outside of work, Mary enjoys yoga, distance running and time with her family riding ATVs on Michigan sand dunes and trails.
